Wildflower Gold Blend #26 - Tasting Notes

Wildflower Gold Blend #26 - Tasting Notes

We are excited to announce that Wildflower Gold Blend #26 will be available online (at 2pm Sydney time) on Friday 20 March 2020As explained in the blog post about the current amended cellar door operations, there is now a "Collect at Wildflower" option on the website as well as the usual shipping options.

At release, this blend has aromas of lifted blossom, sweet lemon curd, soft vanilla vinous tones and cellar funk with a deep earthy spice (similar to the cardamom/cumin aromas from the teen blends). The palate is vibrant and bright, focused with creamy citrus textures. Back palate is pithy citrus with classic WF funk... lovely length and flavoursome finish.

Gold is a blended, barrel aged Australian Wild Ale. Gold Blend #26 is a blend of five barrels - 1714 (11 month old Gold), 1731 (16 month old Gold), 1768 (8 month old Gold), 1777 (8 month old Gold) and 1911 (9 month old Gold).

The base beer is brewed entirely with New South Wales cereals: Single Origin (S.O.) Moree NSW grown Gairdner ale malt and North Star NSW grown Spitfire S.O. raw wheat thanks to Provenance Malt. It is made with filtered Sydney water and Motueka (NZ) and Saaz (CZ) hops. Finally, it was fermented with our house culture: brewers yeast, foraged wild yeast and naturally occurring souring bacteria native to New South Wales. It was bottled on 28 Nov 2019 and naturally conditioned through refermentation for 16 weeks. At bottling it was 5.0% ABV, 25 IBU and 1°P (FG = 1.004 SG).

Like all our beers, Gold Blend #26 is best enjoyed when decanted off a settled natural yeast sediment at cellar temperatures (10-12°C).
