Good as Gold Blend #18 - Tasting Notes

Good as Gold Blend #18 - Tasting Notes

Wildflower Good as Gold Blend #18 will be available online and for take-away/collection at our cellar door from 12pm (Sydney time) on Friday 3 February 2023.

Good as Gold is a 50/50 blend of barrel aged Gold with fresh Gold that has just completed primary fermentation. This blend is composed of three barrels, 1740 (14 month old Gold), 1820 (4 month old Gold) and 1712 (26 month old Gold) equally blended with the 134th batch of Gold brewed in late March 2022.

"Lifted nose full of spice and sweet French oak. Citrus looms large, zesty lemon and lime. With some time in the glass, the oak turns the bright citrus more savoury, lemon curd and vanilla. Wonderful seamless palate, brimming with bright citrus and punchy hop. Fine carbonation and juicy acidity result in an irresistibly moreish combination. Lemon squash, dark spice and a hint of funk round out a seriously delicious ale. A standout blend." - Luke.

The base beer is brewed entirely with regenerative organic grains grown by Sam and Chris Greenwood in Coleambally, New South Wales: organic Schooner ale malt and organic raw red wheat thanks to Voyager Malt. It is made with filtered Sydney water and Motueka (NZ) and Saaz (CZ) hops. Finally, it was fermented with our house culture of microflora wholly foraged from native flowers in NSW. It was bottled on 21 April 2022 and naturally conditioned through refermentation for 41 weeks. At bottling it was 5.0% ABV, 25 IBU and 1.3°P (FG= 1.004 SG).

Like all our beers, Good as Gold Blend #18 is best enjoyed when decanted off a settled natural yeast sediment at cellar temperatures (10-12°C).

Enjoy.
