Good as Gold Blend #14 - Tasting Notes

Good as Gold Blend #14 - Tasting Notes

Wildflower Good as Gold Blend #14 will be available online and for take-away/collection from 12pm (Sydney time) on Friday 1 October 2021.

Good as Gold is a 50/50 blend of barrel aged Gold with fresh Gold that has just completed primary fermentation. This blend is composed of two barrels, 1742 (15 month old Gold) and 1852 (13 month old Gold) equally blended with the 103/104th batch of Gold brewed in late April 2021.

Blend 14 opens with aromas of hop spice and soft creamy grainy notes with a lemon barley lift. Bright and beckoning with the mildest oak and earthy funk. The palate is a sweet burst of yellow citrus, a mid palate full of intensity and flavour, mandarin and lemon meringue with a touch of spicy oak. It’s compact and concentrated, a bang on rendition of this biere de coupage.

The base beer is brewed entirely with New South Wales cereals: Single Origin (S.O.) Riverina NSW grown Schooner ale malt and Coleambally NSW grown organic Red raw wheat thanks to Voyager Malt and Chris and Sam Greenwood. It is made with filtered Sydney water and Motueka (NZ) and Saaz (CZ) hops. Finally, it was fermented with our house culture: brewers yeast, foraged wild yeast and naturally occurring souring bacteria native to New South Wales. It was bottled on 5 May 2021 and naturally conditioned through refermentation for 21 weeks. At bottling it was 5.0% ABV, 25 IBU and 1.3°P (FG= 1.004 SG).

Like all our beers, Good as Gold Blend #14 is best enjoyed when decanted off a settled natural yeast sediment at cellar temperatures (10-12°C).

Enjoy.
