St Walter 2022: Black Muscat

St Walter is an ale made with red wine grapes. It is named for Topher and Bernadette's first son.      

St Walter 2022: Black Muscat was made by blending barrel aged golden mixed culture fermentation ale with 260kg of whole bunch Black Muscat grapes from Thornbrook Orchard in Nashdale, NSW. The whole bunches were left to air-dry after picking to concentrate sugars before a 3 month maceration and refermentation of fruit and beer. It was then bottled and allowed to naturally carbonate and mature for 6 months before release.

"Sweet fruited nose. Jammy red fruits but lifted by the unmistakable muscat characters. Roses, lychee and musk. With more depth and substance the perfume is powerful. An intense palate with sweet perfumed red fruits, plums, raspberry, strawberry in concentration. There’s grip and herbaceous from the stalk. Red confectionery, violets and grape drive a broad rich palate. It’s a gentle finish, with bitterness over acidity giving a soft fruity close." - Luke.
