Good as Gold Blend #12 - Tasting Notes

Good as Gold Blend #12 - Tasting Notes

We are excited to announce that Wildflower Good as Gold Blend #12 will be available online and for take-away/collection from 12pm (Sydney time) on March 5 December 2020

Good as Gold is a 50/50 blend of barrel aged Gold with fresh Gold that has just completed primary fermentation. This blend is composed of two barrels 1840 (19 month old Gold) and 1721 (18 month old Gold) equally blended with the 82nd batch of Gold brewed in July 2020.

Blend #12 has a complex nose full of lemon lime, dark spice and funk. Lighter notes of vanilla and citrus blossom lift the nose wonderfully.  Palate is delicious, a touch deeper than previous blends but still alive with brightness and vibrancy. Orange citrus dominant, lively carbonation with a clean bitterness giving great drive and refreshment.

The base beer is brewed entirely with New South Wales cereals: Single Origin (S.O.) Riverina NSW grown Schooner ale malt and Coleambally NSW grown organic Red raw wheat thanks to Voyager Malt and Chris and Sam Greenwood. It is made with filtered Sydney water and Motueka (NZ) and Saaz (CZ) hops. Finally, it was fermented with our house culture: brewers yeast, foraged wild yeast and naturally occurring souring bacteria native to New South Wales. It was bottled on 26 August 2020 and naturally conditioned through refermentation for 14 weeks. At bottling it was 5.0% ABV, 25 IBU and 1.3°P (FG= 1.004 SG).

Like all our beers, Good as Gold Blend #12 is best enjoyed when decanted off a settled natural yeast sediment at cellar temperatures (10-12°C).
