Good as Gold Blend #17 - Tasting Notes


Wildflower Good as Gold Blend #17 will be available online and for take-away/collection at our cellar door from 12pm (Sydney time) on Friday 7 October 2022.

Good as Gold is a 50/50 blend of barrel aged Gold with fresh Gold that has just completed primary fermentation. This blend is composed of three barrels, 2045 (14 month old Gold), 2047 (15 month old Gold) and 1863 (19 month old Gold) equally blended with the 131st batch of Gold brewed in early Feb 2022. 

A nose abundant in floral white blossoms, yellow citrus zest and woody spice… noticeable savoury oak elements and mild funk. Citrus to the fore on the palate, bright lemon zest and pithy bitterness. Linear with a dry core giving wonderful drive and seamlessness. Gentle oak notes on the finish.

The base beer is brewed entirely with regenerative organic grains grown by Sam and Chris Greenwood in Coleambally, New South Wales: organic Schooner ale malt and organic raw red wheat thanks to Voyager Malt. It is made with filtered Sydney water and Motueka (NZ) and Saaz (CZ) hops. Finally, it was fermented with our house culture: foraged wild yeast and naturally occurring souring bacteria native to New South Wales. It was bottled on 23 February 2022 and naturally conditioned through refermentation for 32 weeks. At bottling it was 5.0% ABV, 25 IBU and 1.3°P (FG= 1.004 SG).

Like all our beers, Good as Gold Blend #17 is best enjoyed when decanted off a settled natural yeast sediment at cellar temperatures (10-12°C).
