Titaness 2021 is a re-visit to one of our most popular Collective releases from last year. As mentioned in the 2020 notes, this beer was originally (and continues to be) driven by Luke. For some time, he had been urging me to blend fruits... for all of the St beers so far we have worked with single fruits and while this has its benefits in highlighting the purity of a certain varietal or orchard... Luke reckoned that, especially in the case of St Phoebe (raspberries), the overall beer could do with some rounding of the palate.

Last year the fruit was split in a ratio of 1: .6 : .8 between raspberries : blueberries : boysenberries. We loved the result as much as y'all did, however this year we wanted to increase the already ludicrous fruit rate and increase the proportion of boysenberries. The fruit was macerated and refermented with mature, 14 month old soft, yet structural Gold from barrels 1843 and 1722. After three months, it was racked off fruit, bottled and allowed to condition for four months before release.

Over that time in bottle the fruit has melded beautifully and the rich boysenberry character shines. Luke did the tasting notes for this one: Dense rich nose, popping blueberry and boysenberry. Redskin, potpourri and berry cordial. Perfumed brambly fruits dominate with strong rose petals, cranberries with soft dark chocolate notes. The weight and texture is cut beautifully by a clean raspberry line. 

The label for Titaness is a small section of the huge doors at the back of the brewery. Different parts of these doors are responsible for the artwork on Titaness, Rose Gold and Millions of Peaches, Nectarines for Free. The name draws from Phoebe, who in Greek mythology was a Titan (thus Titaness) and grandmother to Apollo and Artemis. She is also a crazy and fun four year old red head who is Chris' daughter.

We have an additional 100 x 750ml bottles and 12 x 1.5 litre magnums available for Collective members to purchase on a first come basis from 12pm (Sydney time) on Friday 7 May. There is a limit of 4 bottles and 1 magnum per person.
