Golden Hour 2025 is a blend of organic ale, organic grape skins and organic navel oranges.

The ale was brewed with organic red wheat and organic heritage barley wholly fermented by a diversity of yeasts and bacteria collected from native flowers from NSW and macerated with freshly pressed Viognier grape skins from our friend Alex Shulkin of The Other Right Wines in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia in 2025.

Just before bottling it was blended with freshly pressed Navel Orange juice and zest from Near River Farm before being bottled with raw, unheated Blue Mountains Polyflora wild honey from naturally formed, bee-friendly Warré hives from Tim and Emma Malfroy and allowed to naturally condition and carbonate before release.

Ive wanted to make a beer with Alex's Viognier skins for absolutely ages. Sunshine on my skin is easily one of my favourite Australian grape-skin contact wines. It has a presence with its texture, but its also so bright and drinkable. Alex makes a rendition of the wine for Poly and Jules (at Poly) asked if we would be open to making a beer for them, so this was the fit.

The result is actually pretty darn tasty, if not a little heavy-handed with the oranges at this stage. The oranges made up less than 10% of the blend, but these were field grown fruit from Andrew (whose pigs eat all our spent grain) and they have had a bigger impact post-refermentation than we imagined. This beer drinks like a mimosa and, I'll be honest, we all finished a bottle in about 10 minutes when tasting it this week.

The pectin from the fruit has thrown quite a bit of haze, so its very recommended to sit this bottle upright in a fridge for 24 hours to let that compact around the punt before opening.

I am very intrigued to watch this develop too and most certainly feel an additional 6 months+ will be graceful for it, especially seeing how Spring ages (really well btw).
