Collective 2019 memberships now open

.

UPDATE @4pm. All the memberships spots have now been filled. Thank you to those supporters who decided to join, we look forward to an exciting year of releases ahead. Our sincerest apologies to those who we were not able to accommodate. Once again we are overwhelmed by the interest and support in our little project.

We are extremely excited to announce the second opportunity to join Wildflower Collective.

Memberships to the Collective are now available through our online shop here. For 2019, we have an additional 65 spots available.

The Collective is an annual membership based society created in order for us at Wildflower to work on experimental beers and share them with a small number of supporters to receive feedback and potentially confidence for wider release. Each member's initial and upfront purchase of the beer gives us the assurance and means to play with new ingredients, blends and techniques that may not be commercially viable on a larger scale.

The word "collective" stems from the Latin word collectus from collegere meaning both 'to gather' and 'together'. It is defined by a group dedicated to a certain purpose. We have given the program this name in order to embody and encapsulate the etymology and meaning of the word.  As a group, the Wildflower Collective will meet at the end of each year for a bottle share and overall celebration of the year that was. Perhaps more importantly, we have established the Collective for passionate individuals who share our conviction to explore further the flavour possibilities of Australian Wild Ales.

In 2019, members will receive ten experimental Collective-only unique blends in 750ml format. The beers will be shipped to each member over the course of the year in five separate shipments.

New for this next edition of the Collective, these beers will not be available at our cellar door or domestic events/festivals. We will from time to time, send some of these blends to overseas events or festivals to showcase our most innovative beers. Also new for the 2019 membership, we will aim to have additional bottles of each release available for purchase to Collective members only. These extra bottles are not guaranteed, nor are the quantities. For example, we may have an additional 60 bottles leftover for purchase by our 120 members, however for another beer have a spare bottle available to everyone. Details for how these additional bottles will be distributed/sold will be explained to members next year. Lastly, for 2019 we will also offer our members additional collective-only beers, in addition to the included the 10. These may be smaller bottlings, something we have been compelled to make by the members or just something that happens. We expect there will be two or three internal Collective releases.

Each member of the Collective will also receive a specially branded glass, an offer to purchase tickets to our end-of-year bottle share and first right of refusal for membership to the Collective in 2020.

A 2019 membership to the Collective is $350.

Questions

  • Why 120 spots?
We doubled the spots in the Collective this year from 60 in 2018 due to the unforeseen interest we had in the membership last year. We hope that by doubling, which is a major increase in members from our perspective, those that may have missed out from last year may be able to join. The majority of our 2018 members have decided to renew their membership which leaves us with 65 new spots. We did, however, decide to cap it at 120 total members in order to manage a membership community of this size with our limited staffing.
  • What are the Collective only beers?
Well, we can't say too much at this stage but can say they will be fun. We are currently playing with unique and unusual blends from our cellar, different fruits and fruiting rates. Four of the ten are already underway, however as we are continually inspired, we are unsure ourselves of what they may be.
  • Will there be any other chance to get the Collective beers outside of the Membership?
No, not really. Unlike last year, we will not be tapping or serving any of the Collective only beers at our cellar door or any events in Australia. We will from time to time, send some of these blends to overseas events or festivals to showcase our most innovative beers.
  • When can I expect to receive my beers?
We will send the beers in 5 shipments of 2 bottles throughout the year. The ship-dates are 29 January, 16 April, 18 June, 20 August and 29 October.
  • What is the end-of-year bottle share?
A chance for all of us in the Collective to come together as the year draws to an end to meet, chat, eat and taste. We will bring out a number of things (wine and beer) from our cellar that we have been given or have from the past and members are encouraged to bring along something they have been waiting for the right moment to open. There will be a small fee to attend the evening to cover food etc, as well as to not penalise members who cannot attend.
  • Can I buy a membership for someone else as a gift?
Yes! Just put the lucky person's name and address in the delivery details section when buying the membership online.
  • Can I choose which beers are included?
No - as a member of the Collective, you will be receiving 10 Collective specific beers in 750ml format which are being brewed only for Collective members and won't be available to the public.
  • Can I buy a particular Collective only beer in larger quantities?
We will aim to have additional bottles of each Collective only beer in 2019 available for purchase to members only. These extra bottles are not guaranteed, nor are the quantities. For example, we may have an additional 60 bottles leftover for purchase by our 120 members, however for another beer have a spare bottle available to everyone. Details for how these additional bottles will be distributed/sold will be explained to members next year, however they will generally be sold before each shipment and able to catch rides with your pre-allocated, shipped bottles.
  • Can I pick-up my beer from the brewery?
We prefer that all beer be shipped out to members.  If there is a particular reason why you need to do a pick-up, please send us an email to info@wildflowerbeer.com.  No discount will be offered for any pick-up from our cellar door.
  • Can I cancel my membership?
Due to the investment in brewing Collective-only beers, a membership can't be cancelled or refunded once purchased.
  • What if I need to change my delivery address?
Please send us an email to info@wildflowerbeer.com to discuss any change in delivery arrangements.
  • Who do I contact if I have need to speak with someone at Wildflower about my membership?
    Shoot an email to info@wildflowerbeer.com
